WORKSHOP
The workshop will be a
first step of an planned international research project
between 2008 and 2011 named “Analysis of temporal and
spatial development of wild boar harvest in Europe”
(initiative and funding by our Research Institute for
Forest Ecology and Forestry, Germany, willing to
cooperate with the other wild life research
institutions). The crucial point will be the
standardized and critical/corrected collection of
variables that might be included in a multivariate model
(analogue to
Milner, j.M.; Bonenfant, C.; Mysterud,
A.; Gaillard, J-M.; Csányi, S. Stenseth, N.C. [2006]:
Temporal and spatial development of red deer harvesting
in Europe: biological and cultural factors. Journal of
Applied Ecology 43: 721-734).
The workshop is part of a feasibility
study prior to the proposed research project and makes use of the
get-together of wild boar specialists all over Europe during the
Symposium in Sopron. Especially national delegates/experts are invited
to actively participate.
Within 1.5 hours we will try to
generate a table-like-data base. The generated data base will be
available for all active participants afterwards.
Major goal of the workshop is to check
the availability and quality of data concerning
Ø
harvest rates of
wild boar
Ø
spatial and
temporal distribution of wild boar
Ø
management/hunting regulations
Ø
management/hunting practice
Ø
listing
environmental factors influencing wild boar populations discussed on the
national or regional level like climate change, agricultural development
and hunting practice, feeding etc..
